Resumo

The study of avifauna in the different phytophysiognomies of the Cerrado can be important for the determination of conservation areas and indicate the role of these animals in the ecological restoration. Observations were made in vereda, cerradão and cerrado in the city of Barreiras (BA). A camera and binoculars were used for the observations and the Mackinnon list for species registration. The cerrado presented a greater diversity of species (n = 58), followed by the cerradão (n = 48) and the vereda (n = 42). The most representative family in the cerrado and cerradão was Tyrannidae and in the vereda the family Thraupidae. The vereda had more independent forest birds (50% of its species), while cerrado and cerradão presented the majority of semidependents (both with 52%). In general, the guild of insectivorous was the most representative. The similarity index showed a greater similarity between the avifauna present in the cerrado and the cerradão (0.70), followed by cerradão and vereda (0.60) and cerrado, and vereda (0.55).
