The geological knowledge for the society is fundamental for the conservation of the planet and
maintenance of life on its surface, it is also considered of great importance the understanding of concepts such
as geodiversity, geoheritage, geoconservation, geotourism, and geopark that are known in the scope academic
like 5 Gs. The dissemination of these themes, as well as the dissemination of actions that impact local
communities, allow encouraging the diffusion of geoscientific knowledge and the conservation of natural
resources. To promote actions related to 5Gs, in recent years several actions have been carried out in South
America, especially in Brazil, which has aroused the interest of various transformation agents, especially,
community leaders, public managers, and private initiative. In this context, most of these actions aim to
encourage sustainable tourism and the conservation of natural resources. However, actions aimed at long-term
results such as educating the new generations about the environmental preservation of the planet are still
scarce. The literature on 5Gs is wide and diverse, however, it has been disseminated in technical-scientific
language aimed essentially at academics. Therefore, scarce in appropriate language for the lay public on the
subject. This study intends to bring the reader closer to geological knowledge based on the concepts of 5Gs and
to disseminate examples of actions that spread these concepts, especially to the new generations.
