Political crisis for whom, pale face?

Reflections on the crisis in the field of politics in the 21st century from the perspective of subordination

Abstract

The political debate in Brazil and worldwide is marked by different signs of democratic institutions's deconstruction. This text seeks to present reflections on what is understood by the political field in order to ascertain whether this scenario corresponds to a crisis in this field, based on the tradition of classical political philosophy by Aristotle and Machiavelli. Classical concepts were analized based on the historical processes of constitution of National States and the supposed political universality that democracies would bring with them is unveiled as a contingent phenomenon, perpetrated by a Western conception of the world, guaranteed, reproduced and perpetuated through genocides and epistemicides. The text identifies the crisis in the political field as the crisis of humanity itself. The subalternized groups have always acess dificulty to possibility of political participation, if not through strategies that are read by the hegemonic conception as anti-democratic. The political participation of these subalternized groups doesn't happen through adherence to civil belonging, it is a compulsory participation in the search to guarantee their own existence. Thus, the current crisis in the political field shows that politics according to the classical formulation generates a contradiction of itself, not being universal, it actually shows itself as Western domination over non-Western people, and creates the crisis of humanity that intended to be. So, the politics as a field of debate as still a Utopia.
